Introducing The Sierra Nevada High Altitude Lounge

New for the 2017 Telluride Blues & Brews Festival, our craft beer partner, Sierra Nevada Brewing Company, will debut the “High Altitude Lounge”. The new lounge, located inside the general admission area of the main festival grounds, will feature a lineup of rare Sierra Nevada beer offerings and give attendees a chance to interact directly with folks from the brewery all weekend long. A special rotating tap-list will include the following styles.

Campout Porter

Brewed in collaboration with New Zeland’s Garage Project as part of the 2017 Beercamp Across the World Series, this dark brown Porter evokes the flavors of marshmallows roasted over an open fire! This beer features special ingredients such as malt smoked over manuka wood (a tree native to New Zealand) and manuka honey. Additionally, it contains beechwood honey from California and Tahitian vanilla beans to reflect pleasant sweet and roasted notes.

East Meets West IPA

Also part of the 2017 Beercamp Across the World series, this beer was brewed with Treehouse Brewing from Charlton, MA. Blending East and West coast approaches to the IPA this beer is the best of both worlds. Sierra Nevada’s malt body and profile was blended with the heavy-handed, very late hopping schedule employed by Tree House to create a new, hybrid IPA. Lightly bitter and heavy with citrus-like hop flavor.

Dry Hopped Barleywine Style Ale

“We’re brewing a Dry-Hopped Barleywine-Style Ale.” Avery’s founder, Adam Avery, was eager to brew this style and told us this story: Sierra Nevada Bigfoot Barleywine inspired him to try his hand at the style, leading to the creation of Hog Heaven, an Avery brewing classic. The idea behind this beer for Beer Camp Across the World is actually not to “collaborate” at all, but, rather, to brew the exact recipe for Sierra Nevada’s Bigfoot and the exact recipe for Avery’s Hog Heaven and blend the two distinct finished beers together, and then bottle condition a new version of these two classic beers. The resulting brew is lovingly dubbed “Big Hog” or “HogFoot” depending on the brewer’s preference. It’s big, intense, and hoppy. Great fresh or the perfect candidate for aging down the line!

Cherry Chocolate Stout

This rare Imperial Stout is a blend of cherry, chocolate and dark stout flavor that is exclusively available at the Sierra Nevada brewery outside of the festival. Don’t miss your chance to try one!

River Ryed IPA

Feeling adventurous? Explore the wide open of the outdoors with our River Ryed IPA. This hop-forward beer features intense citrus and herbal hop flavor balanced by the peppery spice of rye for a dry and delicious drink! Exclusively available at the Sierra Nevada brewery outside of the festival. Don’t miss your chance to try one!

In addition to these rarities Sierra Nevada will be pouring the following selection of craft beer throughout the festival: Pale Ale, Back Porch Lager (festival exclusive), Torpedo IPA, Oktoberfest, Nooner, Tropical Torpedo, Kellerweis, Side Car Orange Pale Ale.
