“That girl gets down to the nitty gritty.” Given that the quote is attributed to none other than the great blues belter, Koko Taylor, we can’t think of a finer endorsement for Danielle Nicole’s impassioned, fiery vocals and compelling performances.

With her brothers in the band Trampled Under Foot, Danielle’s acclaim in the blues music world got off to a solid start. Their album, Badlands, snagged the 2014 Blues Music Awards Contemporary Blues Album of the Year, with Danielle also getting the nod for Best Instrumentalist in the Bass category.

As with so many artists, her influences started at home in Kansas City, Missouri, where her father played blues guitar and her mother sang with the group, Little Eva. She honed her chops in the bars in KC, developing her notable voice and songwriting skills along the way.

A solo artist since 2015, Danielle has toured the world, collected numerous awards, Grammy nominations, and her songs have made appearances on movie soundtracks. She’s a powerhouse of a singer and threw down the gauntlet on her solo debut, 2015’s Wolf Den, a ferocious collection of blues-rock howlers. The Love You Bleed, released in 2024, is further demonstration of her vocal mastery.

Like Koko said, we’re gonna get right down to the nitty-gritty. Cue the goosebumps.
