It’s been a minute since Eddie 9V (Brooks Mason, as his mama called him) has graced our stage and boy howdy, has he been busy! As soon as that Marshall amp warms up and he makes those six strings sing, regular attendees to this festival will nod knowingly as his rootsy, electrified blues permeate every brain on every tarp. He’s been playing since he was a tyke of just six-years-old and has always found inspiration in the “older cats.” You know, Rory Gallagher, Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Freddie King. You’ll hear it in every song on his latest record, Saratoga, a collection of heart-pumping songs that reflect not only his influences, but crackle with his own close-to-feral style. Since his last appearance in Telluride in 2022, his ferocious touring schedule has gained him more fans in bigger venues, and with good reason. We love his brash, authentic approach to modern blues.
Why go by Eddie 9V and not Brooks Mason? He was looking for something fresh, “and I ain’t never heard of no bluesman named Eddie 9V.” We have. So good to have you back!
