schedule announcement coming march 2026

Garrett Dutton aka G. Love, has graced our stage before now, so having him back is the sweetest of reunions. G. Love and Special Sauce deliver a hip-loose, easy groove, perfect for sipping lemonade and talkin’ smack on a hot afternoon. His rap flows are silken, almost insouciant, until you really pay attention to the words (like Dylan once said). That’s when you know you are getting truth-bombed in the most poetic of ways. He blows the harp by pulling notes out of thin air like the best of the old blues cats.

Chances are excellent you’ve heard any number of his classic releases such as the band’s self-titled 1994 debut, or the kinetic Electric Mile from 2001. Solo records like The Hustle, Lemonade, Fixin’ to Die, and The Juice still hit, as fresh and lively as the day we first laid ears on them. Throughout his life’s work the blues is inextricably woven into his work just as sure as the ground beneath your feet.

G. Love’s newest record is Ode to R.L., a tribute to the late Hill Country bluesman, R.L. Boyce. The foundational tracks were recorded during the pandemic at Luther Dickinson’s studio and feature numerous hungry-to-play cats like Christone “KingFish” Ingram, Alvin Youngblood Hart, Sharde Thomas, Jontavious Willis, and R.L. himself. Upon revisiting those tracks, G. Love knew he wanted to create something that recalled the magic of the sessions while pulling that rootsy sound into the future. R.L. passed while the project was underway, making the end result all the more potent and meaningful.

This is how the blues will live on and on and on.
