The Mothership has landed. Booty-rockin’, super-freaky, soul-funk tricksters, Parliament Funkadelic, with their space commander and Supreme Executive of Funk, George Clinton will be bringing their glittery mayhem to Telluride.

It all started as a doo-wop group in New Jersey in the 1950s and has since followed singer-songwriter and bandleader Clinton’s very funky vision into today’s big band, big ass-shaking sound. Clinton’s music has kept dance floors filled since the 1970s, and he helped launch not only the disco movement, but also helped give birth to rap, with many of its earliest stars name-checking Clinton and sampling his beats. Clinton is truly an innovator and alchemist, blending R&B and soul sensibilities with some of his more tripped-out influences like Jimi Hendrix and Frank Zappa. The sound was beloved and awarded Clinton with numerous hit singles and three platinum albums in the 70s.

Parliament Funkadelic is a traveling family of musicians whose stage shows feature not only tightly seductive musicianship, but an eyeball feast of outrageous costumes. Feather boas, crazy hairstyles, fishnet stockings and multi-story platform shoes stoke the visual representation of some of the deepest, nastiest, funkiest grooves ever laid down by a band. Get your freak on Sunday night in Town Park. Break out your funkiest costume and get down with that Cosmic Slop.
