When music magazines toss out the phrase, “a star in the making,” after witnessing Grace Bowers’ set at the Newport Folk Festival in 2023, we’re paying attention. Indeed, this electrifying teenage phenom will be an artist that leaves you saying, “I saw her when.” Grace studied blues greats such as Mississippi John Hurt, T-Bone Walker and Freddie King, in addition to reveling in the rock and roll she loves. What emerges from her range of influences and devotion to her guitar, is a distinctive voice that serves as a conduit for her emotions. "Guitar is an extension of me and a way to communicate my feelings”, she says. "It's all about the feel, especially when I'm playing blues. I'm just trying to have my own voice on the guitar." She’s succeeded. At the age of 14, she received an endorsement from Gibson guitars, her axe of choice. We cannot wait to hear what she has to say.
