Austin, Texas is a well-known mecca for musicians looking for a creative scene and an uncompromising platform on which to show off their songwriting and performing chops. Guitarist Andrew Trube and Anthony Farrell on keys are powerful examples of what it takes to succeed in Austin and beyond. The duo shares songwriting and singing duties and their live shows are vibrant affairs that put their funky inclinations on display.

Anthony and Andrew met in the late-1990s and set to work writing and getting those songs in front of established artists like Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi. Since then, an ever-growing catalogue of deeply soulful, blues-funk releases has propelled the pair to their own heights, and includes their latest, Austin to Tulsa, a high-energy collaboration with King Cabbage Brass Band. It cooks. Their music has been described as “Hall & Oates meets ZZ Top,” and it’s apt. Melodic astuteness and Texas boogie-blues are at home in the pair’s work alongside R&B and funk. This, my friends, is gonna be all kinds of fun. You’ll dance, you’ll hold your partner close, you’ll thank your lucky stars there are Greyhounds.
