Charles "Sugar Harp" Burroughs is a veteran blues harmonica player and singer known for his "down in the gutter, back alley, storytelling blues." Born on August 29, 1947, he was inspired to pick up the harmonica at age eight by his great-grandfather, a musician in Plains, Georgia. After decades of performing, he more than earned his moniker, "Sugar Harp." He was inducted into the Alabama Blues Hall of Fame in 2018.

His music is characterized by original lyrics that are clever, full of innuendo, and often lighthearted, guiding listeners to draw their own conclusions while remaining technically family-friendly. A partner artist of the Music Maker Foundation, he released his debut album, Sugar Is My Name, in 2022. His experiences, including serving in the Air Force in Vietnam and once hitching a ride to Woodstock, shape his character and music.
