Zach Person knows better than most how therapeutic music can be. After he lost his father when he was just 10 years old, his mother handed him a guitar. Seeing her son’s interest in music, she knew of a way for the young boy to process his emotions, while finding his way around a guitar. “My mother wanted to find a creative outlet for me to help process the emotional trauma I’d experienced,” Zach told Ultimate Guitar. “When I showed an interest in learning guitar, she was all about it.” He took to it in ways neither of them could have imagined. Today he is a burnished road warrior and an accomplished guitarist who, early on, discovered B.B. King’s The Thrill is Gone, and never took his eyes off the blues. His new record, Let’s Get Loud, was launched with a gritty blues-rock single, We Don’t Play, with Go-Go’s bassist, Kathy Valentine. It’s a terrific opening salvo. This is new generation blues and Zach’s is here to assure us, the kids are alright.
