Do you wanna dance? Do you wanna sing? You gotta get up when The California Honeydrops do their thing! Guitarist and trumpeter Lech Wierzynkski and drummer Ben Malament once busked at Oakland subway stations, honing their sound while inciting commuters to tail-shaking. Wierzynkski was born in Warsaw, Poland and learned his singing style from records by Sam Cooke and Ray Charles, records that were extremely hard to come by in those days. From those busking days, he’s since been joined by Johnny Bones on tenor sax and clarinet, Lorenzo Loera on keyboards, and Beau Bradbury on bass. Their diverse influences solidified California Honeydrops sound that it is today, a lively act that tours from coast to coast, this year supporting Bonnie Raitt on numerous dates. Let’s party!
