CLIMB ABOARD THE 2ND ANNUAL DURANGO BLUES TRAIN JUNE 2, 2012!
MAY 11, 2012

The Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad and the Telluride Blues & Brews Festival present the 2nd Annual Durango Blues Train this June 2, 2012. This exclusive musical event returns for a second year after overwhelming response and praise for the event’s first blues train. This exclusive ‘moving’ musical experience features seven live blues acts, while passengers travel on The Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad’s coal-fired, steam-powered locomotive through the spectacular and breathtaking canyons of Colorado’s San Juan National Forest.

"We are very excited to return for a second amazing year, as this event is a crowd pleaser – sure to thrill music lovers everywhere,” said Steve Gumble, founder of Durango Blues Train. "This event has received incredible support and enthusiasm from both the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad and the local community, enabling us to return for a second year."

The Blues Train lineup this year includes Erik Boa and the Constrictors, The Sugar Thieves, Robby Overfield, Big Jim Adam & John Stilwagen, Todd and the Fox, Alex Maryol, and Donny Morales. Each artist performs in their own vintage coach car, as passengers are to free to dance, move and sample all the musical acts while traveling from one vintage rail car to next. Entertainment and favorite libations are peppered with the scenery of the famous train featured in the Hollywood production, "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid," among others.

Guests can enjoy live blues with a beer and wine cash bar while riding the rails. The train boards at 5:45 PM from the Durango train depot, hits the tracks at 6:20 pm, and arrives back in Durango at approximately 9:45 PM. Tickets are $95 per person, plus 6% Historic Train Preservation fee. Tickets are extremely limited and purchasers must be 21 years old to participate.

“We are extremely excited with the lineup this year in Telluride,” said Steve Gumble, Festival Director. “Phil Lesh, Gov’t Mule and the B-52’s are sure to give stellar performances – the festival weekend boasts amazing and legendary musical talent with much more to come!”

Those looking for the inspiration of the current jam band movement need look no further than Phil Lesh. A founding member of the venerable American musical institution, the Grateful Dead, Lesh has continued to inspire while pushing the envelope with his highly evolved musical performances. His performance in Telluride this fall is one of the most anticipated in the festivals 19 year history.

For guitarist/lead vocalist Warren Haynes and his band, Gov't Mule, creating a new album is akin to walking a tightrope: they write new songs that please old fans, while hopefully garnering new ones. It's not a surprise their coined one of the hardest working bands in rock history...

It is well known that the B-52s are the World’s Greatest Party Band. And thirty years and over twenty million albums into their career, The B-52s remain among the most beloved rock stars ever. Their performance in Telluride Town Park will be one not to miss, as they serve up their unique blend of music with their combination of  rock’n’roll, funk and retro-hip music.

Renowned as one of the most scenic and intimate music festivals in the country, Telluride Blues & Brews takes place in the world-famous resort town of Telluride, Colorado, in the heart of the Rocky Mountains 13,000-foot mountain peaks. The Blues & Brews three-day celebration offers an eclectic mix of live blues, funk, jam bands, rock, gospel and soul performances - accompanied by some of the best microbreweries in the country. Food and craft vendors, children's activities and late night juke joint shows are also featured.
