Imagine if you were a musician and had your own club in which to play with a band of your own creation. Such it was with The New Mastersounds’ guitarist Eddie Roberts. He has cultivated a group of masterful players from his hometown Leeds, England music scene, a group that, in just 13 years, has grown today into one of hottest funk acts on Earth. No strangers to Telluride, a New Mastersounds set is characterized by percolating boogie, endless funk and seamless instrumental jams. It is not possible to sit still. Unless one of Roberts’ incredible guitar runs stops you in your tracks. Then that fantastic rhythm section and Hammond organ remind you to keep shaking your tail feather. Individually and as a group, they command respect among their peers. Collaborations with other artists such as Karl Denson, Quantic, Corinne Bailey Rae and Page McConnell further cement their reputation as incredible musicians.
