Gail Ceasar keeps close to her roots. The guitarist, who plays a country blues style that slides between Piedmont blues and bluegrass, is content at home in Virginia where her extended family has been for generations. How fortunate are we then, that she has hit the road this year. She almost had her music career cut out from under her when a house fire destroyed not only her home, but her guitars and amplifier. Thanks to the Music Maker Foundation, her tools of the trade were replaced and last year, on the MMF label, Gail released her debut album, Guitar Women Blues, a dozen tracks of the roots music that runs in her veins, handed down from generation to generation.
