Jump blues is in the house! No one plays it better than the amazing “rock-a-boogie” pianist and singer Mitch Woods. With its driving, infectious groove, a Mitch Woods set is a throw-your-hands-in-the-air, shake-yo-tailfeathers kind of dance party. His late-night blues cruise gigs are the stuff of legend. It seems everyone on board sits in with him, taking partiers into the stratosphere. He started out his musical journey studying jazz and classical, but upon moving to the West Coast and discovering jump blues, he knew he’d found his path. It’s a style from the 1940s and 50s that is one of the forebears of rock and roll. He delivers it fast, swinging, and with enough energy to bring you to dawn’s early light.
