This Canadian bluesman might look familiar to those of you who gathered at last year’s festival. That’s because he came out on top of our Telluride Blues Challenge, earning him a spot on this year’s lineup and on the Durango Blues Train. He wowed the judges with his unique sound, a tapestry of blues, soul, R&B and rock that marries tradition with modern sensibilities. The Calgary native is on the ascendency and has earned recognition for his songwriting, as well as snagging a nomination for New Artist of the Year at the 2022 Maple Blues Awards in Toronto. He’s a terrific live performer who lives up to the praise he received from the Calgary Herald: “a precocious guitarist whose vocals possess a wise-beyond-his-years weariness.” He’s a winner, in our books.
