2019 Fais Do-Do: Closing Celebration

Sunday, September 15 | Durand Jones & The Indications | Sheridan Opera House

The 2019 festival weekend ends with a special closing celebration show from Durand Jones & The Indications at the historic Sheridan Opera House on Sunday, September 15. The doors open at 8:30 pm and the show starts at 9:00 pm. Tickets are on sale now and very limited (less than 100 tickets left).

History

Fais Do-Do roughly translates to "Cajun dance party". The parties were named for the gentle command ('go to sleep') young mothers offered bawling infants so that they could get back out and dance with their husbands before someone else did. This is the final show of the festival weekend and shortly thereafter, everyone will get some sleep! This show is a highlight for many and one you won't want to miss.

Durand Jones & The Indications

Louisiana native Durand Jones channels soul music like we’re listening to the radio in the early 1970s. Drenched in emotion and memory and heartache, soul music for Durand comes as naturally as breathing. He and The Indications — Aaron Frazer (with whom he swaps vocals), Blake Rhein, Kyle Houpt and Steve Okonski — met while in college in Bloomington, Indiana. “Did I expect to do this shit once I got out of college? Hell no.” Jones said. “Totally not. But this is what God is telling me to do — move and groove. So I’m gonna stay in my lane.” Their eponymous 2018 album brings youthful energy and exuberance to this tried and true genre of music for lovers. Sax runs glide like silk and Durand’s voice recalls the great Wilson Pickett’s. Yes sir, please stay in your lane. Discover more - read, listen and watch here.

Please note, VIP and Juke Joint passes are not valid for show entry, this is a separate ticket.
