2022 Bal De Maison: Opening Show With Oh He Dead

Thursday, September 15 | Oh He Dead | Sheridan Opera House

The opening celebration for the 2022 Telluride Blues & Brews Festival will feature groovy soul, rhythm and blues from Oh He Dead. Held at the historic Sheridan Opera House on Thursday, September 15, the Bal de Maison is the perfect way to kick off the festival weekend. The doors open at 8:30 pm and the show starts at 9 pm.

The phrase Bal de Maison originated from dances held at someone’s house - typically in the front room. These dances were usually announced by the host of the party simply yelling from his or her porch to the neighbors. Word would sometimes travel up to 40 miles. The Bal de Maison opening celebration has been a part of our festival tradition for over 10 years. So here's our shout out - spread the word about the Bal de Maison and let’s have a dance party to start the weekend!

Oh He Dead

Oh He Dead brings a sweet-smoky, sultry vibe to soul and R&B that we just love. Founded by vocalists Cynthia “C.J.” Johnson and Andrew Valenti in 2014, this five-piece is a locked-in collective that makes Oh He Dead show’s energetic and funky. Cynthia and Andrew’s harmonies are a goose bump-inducing experience and the songs are deeply “groovy and infectious,” as NPR raved. They are beloved in their hometown of Washington D.C. and are gaining national attention via touring and with appearances on NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert series and other high-profile performances. This is a band on its ascendency and we’re proud to help share them with the world.

Please note, VIP and Juke Joint passes are not valid for show entry, this is a separate ticket.
